Swanline Print Ltd is the leading trade supplier of specialist printed packaging and point-of-sale displays, with a reputation for quality service and confidentiality. Based in Staffordshire, its customers include sheet plants, point-of-sale companies, merchants, litho printers, agencies and carton manufacturers.
Swanline was introduced to Lombard through their bank relationship manager, John Ryan, so when it was keen to improve its product range and enhance its quality of output with superior machine technology and engineering, it approached Lombard for help. Swanline Director Richard Towers explains, “Expanding overall capacity and increasing service levels is always important to us especially to reinforce Swanline’s dominance in such a niche market. We were ready to invest in two die cutters and Europe’s largest format laminator, but needed to retain cash flow in order to expand our premises and purchase further manufacturing space.”
Thanks to Ryan’s knowledge, and closeness to Swanline, Lombard understood the time pressures and produced a quote that suited the client. Happy with the terms, Swanline used Lombard’s impressive finance facilities for all three new machines. Lombard’s Relationship Manager, Ruth Davies explains, “Lombard’s hire purchase facility not only funded Swanline’s new equipment but also supported the shipment of the machinery from abroad. The working capital released by the asset finance could then be used to fund Swanline’s expansion plans, enabling it to take on bigger contracts, especially those attracted by the new machinery.”
Lombard’s funding enabled Swanline Print to purchase new machinery whilst retaining its cash flow to fulfill its expansion objective. Lombard’s expertise supported the delivery of new products to the customer and reinforced Swanline Print’s position at the forefront of its industry.
