What did they want to achieve?
Over the course of three years, the business had made significant investment in the development of Leonardo, their proprietary transport management system technology. Now they were keen to release some of the capital invested in this business-critical software to support their ongoing growth strategy.
How we helped
We provided Europa with our unique Software Licence Solution asset finance product so they could use the Intellectual Property (IP) in their software to release cash into the business. The agreement sees LTS acquire the IP for Leonardo but lets Europa continue to use it under licence for the next three years. At the end of the term, Europa can buy the IP back.
"The way Lombard listened to us and their unprompted suggestion of this solution is just the kind of proactive approach we look to our professional advisers to provide."

Our £1 million funding deal benefitted the business in a number of ways.
Europa invested some capital from Leonardo's IP into back into the software with the aim of developing it futher.
This new access to cash also allowed Europa to grow their business by recruiting new sales staff.
The option to buy back the IP at the end of the three year term kept Europa in the driving seat.
