Lombard helps keep Cranleigh Freight Services Ltd on the road
- Lombard supports Cranleigh Freight Services (CFS) to expand specialist services
- Lombard provides CFS with funding of £520k
- CFS receives additional line of credit to develop its home delivery business
Cranleigh Freight Services Ltd (CFS) is one of the South East's premier logistics providers. Based in Surrey, CFS has been providing freight services across the UK and Europe for over 30 years and operates 70 vehicles and trailers.
Lombard had previously undertaken a small amount of business with CFS through the broker business but when this division was closed, Lombard Relationship Director, Mike Sacchi joined forces with NatWest in Guildford to pitch for the business. Both businesses were successful, with Lombard being listed as one of CFS's regular finance providers.
Demonstrating its worth as an asset management company was fundamental to Lombard winning the business as Sacchi explains, "CFS is the biggest independent distributor in the South East of England so there was competition for its business. However, we were very keen to do business and took time to understand the customer’s needs. We are now one of three core HP funders servicing CFS."
The speed of service was key to Lombard's success. The initial £235K deal to replace four new lorries was put in place in three days, with subsequent requirements for additional vehicles and handling equipment following. CFS Directors David Wells and Graham Young commented, "Lombard has been instrumental throughout the whole process and provided us with the correct funding solution that enables us to continue with our fleet replenishment programme and meet customer demands."
Sacchi continues, "I think what the customer appreciates most is Lombard’s professionalism and the provision of a personal service. We react quickly and deliver on our promises which has been instrumental in developing a strong relationship with CFS that we hope to continue for many years to come."
