The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published its policy statement PS23/6 on 30th March 2026 confirming final rules for an industry - wide redress scheme, covering certain motor finance agreements, to compensate customers who were treated unfairly.
If you took out finance to buy a vehicle between 6th April 2007 and 1st November 2024 and your agreement involved a commission arrangement, you may be entitled to compensation under this scheme.
Under the proposed scheme there would be a set up period so lenders can prepare:
- If you took out your agreement between 6 April 2007 and 31 March 2014, the scheme would start on 31 August 2026
- If you took out your agreement from 1 April 2014 to 1 November 2024, the scheme would start on 30 June 2026
On 1 May 2026, the FCA published a statement confirming its compensation schemes have been legally challenged. This may affect timescales for responding to complaints but rest assured Lombard will respond to your enquiry as soon as possible.
